Watt? BEST summer course has started!
At Friday, 3rd of June, we have officially opened our BEST summer course “Watt can you do for the future? beSUSTAINABLE!”. The opening was held at the Rector’s hall of University of Zagreb. 30 students from 14 European countries, members of BEST Zagreb and distinguished guests were present. The distinguished guests were prof. dr. sc. Bojan Baletić, prorector of University of Zagreb, prof. dr. sc. Davor Petrinović, vice-dean for teaching at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, prof. dr. sc. Nataša Bauer from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and prof. Ljubomir Miščević from the Faculty of Architecture. The course was officially opened by prof. Petrinović. Afterwards, prof. Baletić held an interesting presentation of the future university campus Borongaj. All participants received welcome packages. After the official part, a small banquet in front of the hall was held.

The first two days of the course participants and their Croatian hosts spent on a trip in Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic sea. Although the weather forecast was not very fond of us, luckily the sun followed us throughout the trip. With our European colleagues we visited several Istrian towns. The trip started with the tour of city of Poreč during which we had the opportunity to visit the Eufrasie basilica. The Saturday evening was spent at the tavern “Agrotourism Dušani” where we had the opportunity to taste some of the hallmarks of Istrian gastronomy: maneštra, istrian fuži and fritule. Sunday was reserved for the tour of the small town Vodnjan and the sightseeing of the biggest town in Istria – Pula. We visited the famous Arena and many other interesting monuments and listened to nteresting stories from the history of Pula.
Within the next ten days and overall 30 working hours the participants will hear and learn about different aspects of energetic efficiency and sustainability.
