About BEST

BEST is a voluntary, apolitical, non-profit, non-representative international association of European students of technology. We all share the same vision of respect and understanding of diversity of cultures and societies, which we believe empowers students for reaching their full potential and feeling of responsibility. BEST strives to help European students of technology to become more internationally minded, by reaching a better understanding of European cultures and developing capacities to work on an international basis.

Our main activities imply complementary education as our primary goal, as well as providing career support and increasing educational involvement. We are all carried by BEST spirit which includes flexibility, improvement, learning, as well as friendship and fun. Thus, we manage to bring all the partners in the “student - company - university” triangle closer.

The idea of BEST was born in May 1987 in Stockholm during a European conference for students of physics and mathematics. The first meeting held exclusively for BEST was in Berlin in April 1989. At this meeting BEST was officially founded.

The basis of our organization is formed by our 81 Local BEST Groups, spread in 29 European countries, all led by their local boards in organizing local and international BEST activities. Next to the local groups, we have a well developed international structure, the International Board. Its main task is co-ordination of BEST and its bodies and programmes, promotion, executing decisions and supporting for quality assurance of all BEST activities. BEST members regularly meet for internal events where they receive training, work on BEST specific issues, and strengthen their ties.
