How to write a motivation letter?

A motivation letter is surely your most important step in the procedure of applying for a BEST course - upon it, we decide about your participation! That very step is your chance to show that you’re the exactly right candidate to be accepted on our course!

There is no such thing as a recipe for the perfect motivation letter that would guarantee your acceptation, however there are some tips, hints and tricks you should keep in mind while writing:

  • A motivation letter ought to be written in English.

  • A motivation letter is read by students just like you (your age) so there is no need for formality - imagine writing this letter to your college friend!

  • Write something about yourself - from the basic information about who you are, what you’re studying, your interests… - to the things that you do in your spare time (what kind of music you like, which sports do you do, etc.)

  • Say why you applied for the course, what you like about it, how could it help in your studies and future career …

  • Try not to write a motivation letter to “sound” like a CV. There is no need to list the exams that you’ve passed, nor the jobs that you’ve done.

  • It’s not all about the academic part - explain why you want to visit Croatia, show us that you are a social person and you like to meet new people and different cultures!

  • BEST courses are always full of fun so show us that you’re a funny and interesting person!

  • The size of a letter should be about a half of A4 page - on one hand not too long to be boring, on the other, not too short to seem like you are uninterested.

  • Show some creativity! Make your letter different from all the others – sometimes there are hundreds of letters written to us! :)

  • Courses sometimes require some level of knowledge about the topic, so read carefully the information given on the web!

BEST luck! :)
